The Background
The Fonjo Foundation was born from lived experience, community urgency, and a deep belief in the power of kindness to heal, mobilize, and transform. Founded in Uganda by Mr. Bonny— a communications strategist and systems thinker — the Foundation emerged as a response to the growing need for inclusive, emotionally resonant outreach that speaks to the realities of youth, women, and vulnerable households.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation played a vital role in community sensitization. Mr. Bonny and a select team contributed to the translation of My Hero Is You, a children’s book developed by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee in collaboration with UNICEF. This effort ensured that vital mental health and resilience messaging reached children in their own languages and cultural contexts. Simultaneously, the Foundation produced and distributed internally crafted literature and audio recordings to raise awareness, combat misinformation, and promote safety across vulnerable communities.
From early campaigns powered by spoken word and music, to strategic donor folders and fallback inserts designed to maintain trust during funding delays, the Foundation has grown into a beacon of resilience and innovation. Every asset we create — whether a youth anthem, a menstrual hygiene toolkit, or a climate advocacy video — is built to move hearts, inspire action, and model institutional integrity.
